Back to School

Old School Friends

Adam Thomas (Donte)
I keep in touch with some of my mates from school.  We still have the same laughs we had then.

Angela Griffin (Kim)
I had about five best friends when I was at High School; Rebecca, Emma, Louise and Sarah. We used to sing with each other. Rebecca would write songs and she had a guitar so we had a five piece harmony group. We sang our way through school.

I don't really keep in constant touch with anyone I went to school with. I email a few people who now live in New Zealand and Canada and find out about local people and stuff but I don't really have close friends from school, which I do find a massive shame.

Camilla Power (Lorna)
At school I tended to get on with everyone rather than have one best friend. I was pretty single minded. I was well known for my Madonna impression at school whenever we did pop shows for charity! I do occasionally bump into people who were at Sylvia Young at the same time, like Denise Van Outen but that's about it.

Chris Geere (Matt)
Through the wonders of cyberspace, I’ve got back in touch with loads.  I’m very fond of my old pals from lunchtime footie club.

Christine Tremarco (Davina)
I do keep in touch with some school friends. In fact one of my best friends from school Jane has made me Godmother to one of her daughters.

Denise Welch (Steph)
My best friend at school was Jill Hewitson. We were really close throughout school and when we left, unfortunately we lost touch for a period, but we are now back in touch which is great. In fact she has just been to my parents 70th but I didn't really get to talk to her. But Jill and I were great mates at school, at one point whilst we were at school together, Jill fancied a chap called Stott, so my life was put on hold whilst all our time was spent following him around Consett Park whilst drinking barley wine. After our o'levels Jill and I both worked at Pontins together as waitresses. My mum got so depressed when she came and saw where we were working. Anyway, Jill and I decided we didn't want to work their anymore so to escape the job we hid under a tartan rug in the back of a taxi as it drove us out of the gates!

Holly Kenny (Sambuca Kelly)
Yes most of them live quite far away but we meet up every night, but my best friend who I have known since I was 2 lives around the corner.

Jamie Glover (Andrew)
I did have a couple of best friends at school and we recently got back in touch. I don't think any of us had changed and we slipped back into an easy routine with each other. But we are in quite different places now so I'm not sure how often our paths will cross but it was good seeing them again.

Jason Done (Tom)
I am still in contact with my friend Simon Stevenson. We have known each other since we were five years old.

Katie Griffiths (Chlo)
I used to have a best friend at school and we don't really talk that much anymore. But when we were best friends we used to be able to know what the other was thinking. Especially when something funny happened; as we individually, used to think what could have happened to make the situation even funnier. And without telling each other our thoughts we would both start laughing and find out later it was at exactly the same ideas!

My best friend Holly & I met when we were in year 7. She always says she wasn't keen on me because I was a bit of a geek (she wasn't exactly 'cool'!) but when she realised she couldn't get rid of me she learnt to like me! And now we're like an old married couple! We speak everyday and see each other all the time, we even had matching cars! We were laughing the other day about how we use to spend our whole lunch and break times trying to bump into 2 year 11 boys that we fancied! That got us in plenty of trouble, I got caught in the boy's toilets by the technology teacher and Holly just laughed! I went a great shade of beetroot! We used to go on walks and cycle everywhere together! My mate Holly is just brilliant; her family are like a second home to me!

Lucy Dixon (Danielle)
I caught up with a couple of friends recently from school. It was great to see them again and how much they’ve changed and I’m definitely going to keep in contact with them more.

Nick Sidi (Roger)
Of my two best friends from school, one now lives in Australia so I hardly ever see him - and the other one is a foreign correspondent for the BBC news so he travels all over the world. He currently lives in Russia - however we see each other whenever he comes back here as we go and watch Manchester City together!

Shabana Bakhsh (Jasmine)
One and she’s still my best mate.

Tachia Newall (Bolton)
Loads of them!  Most are in Manchester.
