WHAT HAPPENED TO IZZIE AT THE END OF LAST SERIES?
Izzie and Tom finally got together after a very turbulent time.
DO YOU THINK IZZIE HAS CHANGED AT ALL?
Izzie begins series 2 with a renewed enthusiasm and happiness. She feels completely content and is excited about her future with Tom.
TOM AND IZZIE SEEM TO BE IN A HAPPY RELATIONSHIP AT THE START OF THE SERIES - DOES THIS CONTINUE?
No the happiness doesn't last. Without giving too much away, Izzie and Tom's relationship breaks down in a spectacular fashion. There are so many factors involved.
HOW DO IZZIE'S DAUGHTER'S CHLO AND MIKA GET ON WITH TOM?
Her daughters, Chlo and Mika get on with Tom very well, although they never see him as a father figure until much later on.
HOW DOES IZZIE FEEL IN REGARDS TO LORNA? HOW DO YOU THINK LORNA IS COPING WITH THE FACT THAT TOM AND IZZIE ARE EXPECTING A BABY?
Izzie is wracked with guilt and allows Lorna to manipulate her because of this. Lorna is devastated about Izzie's pregnancy but never allows her to see this.
DO YOU THINK IZZIE HAS A LOT OF GUILT IN REGARDS TO LORNA?
Very much so as Izzie's guilt stops her from moving forward with Tom.
BULLYING IS AN ISSUE THIS SERIES. IS IZZIE INVOLVED?
Izzie's daughter Mika has trouble with a girl in school and it has some extreme results. Izzie has to deal with this on top of everything else and feels guilt for having neglected Mika. She was preoccupied with her problems with Tom at the time and Mika didn't feel she could speak to her mother about it.
HAVE YOU EVER HAD TO GIVE ADVICE IN REGARDS TO BULLYING, OR TAKE IT YOURSELF?
Most people have had some experience of bullying. It's important to let the bully know that they can't control you and take away the power they think they have over you.
WHAT HAVE YOU ENJOYED MOST ABOUT RECORDING WATERLOO ROAD?
We all get along very well and we often have little giggling fits when we are filming. We also like to laugh at each others costumes!!!
WATERLOO ROAD RAISES SOME ISSUES AS WELL AS BEING ENTERTAINING.
Waterloo Road is a drama first and foremost, it will cover some of the issues that real teachers will face everyday but as it's a drama not a documentary we want it to be entertaining firstly.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE STORYLINE THIS SERIES?
I'm enjoying the 'Tom, Izzie, Lorna' storyline. It has so many twists and turns that even I can't keep up with it. I have to keep reminding myself what's happened.
WHAT DID YOU DO BETWEEN SERIES?
I did Panto in Newcastle which I'm doing again this year and I had a holiday and then wedding plans.
YOU AND YOUR FIANCE ARE IN A PANTO TOGETHER THIS YEAR - ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO WORKING TOGETHER?
Yes. I love being in the Theatre Royal Panto it really makes Christmas fun and I love being back in Newcastle too.
WHERE WERE YOU BORN AND BROUGHT UP?
Gateshead.
WHERE DO YOU LIVE NOW?
East London.
WHAT WERE YOUR FIRST IMPRESSIONS ON ARRIVING AT THE WATERLOO ROAD SET?
My first impression of the Waterloo Road set was that it was cold and empty. It's strange being back in school but feeling no sense of anxiousness or worry or fear of it. This time round it felt so familiar after the last series but they had made quite a few changes. They had built a house for Tom and Izzie in the school gym and we all had better dressing rooms.
IS WATERLOO ROAD ANYTHING LIKE THE SCHOOL YOU ATTENDED?
Yes there are a few similarities. I went to an inner-city comprehensive where there was a cross-section of backgrounds, like Waterloo Road.
