Previously living in the East End of London, Rose didn’t know countryside existed until she was in her early teens and like most of the other girls around her, was pregnant by the age of sixteen. Rose longed for the perfect family life for her children, but she went about it the wrong way – sleeping with any man she met in the pub and getting herself a reputation for being easy. Both her daughter Sam and fourth child Denzil were products of drunken one night stands. The Kelly kids became well known by the police and the residents on the estate as trouble but Rose turned her life around when she came to Rochdale.
With the help of Tom she got sober and even studied for her GCSEs. Rachel gave her a chance making her a catering assistant in the Waterloo Road canteen and she’s flourished ever since. She has always been proud of the kitchen she and the other staff run so it’s no surprise that Adam’s arrival causes some friction amongst the pots and pans.
