Lauren is in year ten and Sambuca Kelly’s best mate. The youngest sibling with four older brothers – she learnt at a young age that being a gobby little cow was the only way of being heard above the noise and coping in such a testosterone filled environment. However, underneath the lippiness, Lauren can be pretty impressionable and easily led. When Sam first arrived at Waterloo Road, Lauren hated her and her family on sight – snootily writing them off as a bunch of skags. She soon learned there’s a lot more to Sam than meets the eye and the two became firm friends.

As we’ll see this term Lauren’s gobbiness masks some deeper insecurities about the way she looks, always seeking to fit in with the crowd. When she’s revealed to have a big birthmark on her back it’s time for Lauren to realise just how important it is to be individual.
