Steph's in her early 40's and is a hopeless teacher. She has no control over her classes and the kids have no respect for her. She's been promoted to Head of Pastoral Care, a role she intends giving her full attention but it's not long before she finds herself way out of her depth. Steph tries desperately to maintain a bubbly, up-beat attitude for Jack, with whom she considers herself in love - despite the fact Jack is totally head over heels with Davina. However, in true Steph style and leaving no stone unturned, Steph directs her attentions to new drama and music teacher, Matt Wilding.
